In a strategic move towards advancing renewable energy solutions in higher education, a delegation from Thomas Adewumi University conducted a technical visit to Adeleke University, Osun State, to assess the proposed site for the installation of a Solar Power Plant. The visit follows an initial courtesy visit by the leadership and technical team from Adeleke University to TAU, where they were impressed with TAU’s 214KW Capacity Solar Farm and sought to explore similar sustainable energy solutions.
The technical delegation from Thomas Adewumi University includes the Director of Works & Physical Planning, Engr. Lanre Ilesanmi; the Head of Department, Decrown Energy, Engr. S.A Jimoh; Senior Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Femi Ayorinde, and Technical Assistant to the Director of Works, Miss Tunmise Faith. Their primary objective was to evaluate the feasibility of installing a solar power plant at Adeleke University, given the institution’s growing energy demands and commitment to sustainability.
During the visit, the team assessed the proposed site, reviewed existing infrastructure, and identified potential challenges and opportunities for implementation. Key factors such as solar exposure, available space, and integration with existing electrical systems were considered. The evaluation confirmed the project’s technical feasibility, highlighting its potential to reduce operational costs, lower the university’s carbon footprint, and serve as a model for sustainable energy adoption in Nigerian educational institutions.
The TAU delegation was warmly received by Adeleke University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Solomon A. Adebola and other key officials, who expressed their appreciation for the collaboration. The kind that clearly reveals Thomas Adewumi University remaining at the forefront of innovation and sustainability, fostering partnerships that drive progress in education and technology.
