Basic Tips On Examinations Success !

An examination is a formal test taken by a candidate of a particular subject or course, to show his/her knowledge  or ability in that particular subject or course. It is just an academic exercise designed to examine progress or test the candidate knowledge.

Study hard and smart

It is safe to study hard but also remember to study smart, most students study hard by researching a lot, from one text book to another but at the end of the day they don’t absorb the information and knowledge needed to tackle the examination questions. Make sure you study effectively rather than spending a lot of time. Studying hard- ( spending 10 hours to study but can’t remember any of it ) Studying smart -( checking past examinations questions, focusing on similar topics when studying, researching, gathering and retaining information ).

Organize study group with Friends

A stud group helps you to solidify and clarify some courses materials and assignment. Study group is a very effective strategy for enhancing learning, you can simply ask questions from your fellow course mates on certain topics that proof difficult. It also help you to be motivated because you won’t be able to procrastinate your study time because there will always be students who are more organized and have better time management skills. Also, you will be able to share ideas and thoughts, you learn and retain more knowledge.

Understand what you are studying

Make sure you understand what is in your notes,  textbooks and other research materials. The main point here is, do not cram !cramming has been proven to increase stress levels and can also lead to  panic and anxiety. you can rephrase in your own words when possible. You can make use of diagram and graphs to get better understanding when necessary.

Snack on brain foods

Foods rich in proteins provide satiety and increase brain power. Some of these foods and fruits help to boost your memory and improves concentration.  Some of these foods include but not limited to : Beans, eggs, meat, banana and berries( as it contain Omega-3 fatty acid), brown rice bread as it contain glucose levels which promote the active mind and increase memory function. Also, you can take groundnut, oatmeal , avocado and pears.

Get enough sleep and breaks

Healthy sleep plays a very important role in enhancing and facilitating learning. make sure you sleep well and sound, waking up to read at night is not bad, but too much of it can really hurt you. Lack of sleep can make your brain to slow down and also make you feel drowsy. Getting enough sleep makes you to perform your best, make sure you get at least 5/6 sleeping hours before getting into the examination hall. Also, make sure you get a little break while reading, you can easily take a stroll within the room or class, take a view of your environment, relax and strecht and your legs and arms. 

Adherence to School rules

All Students must adhere to all regulations that govern examination conduct of the University. Some of these rules include , Students must use only their assigned seats  by the invigilator, no students is allowed to to leave the examination in the first thirty (30) minutes of the commencement  of an examination, utmost silence must be maintained during examinations, no aiding and abetting.
